KEYBOARD TESTER
Test every keyboard key directly in your browser. See key presses and releases, physical key codes, modifiers, held keys and recent input events in real time.
—Keyboard input is captured automatically while this tester is open. Browser/OS-reserved shortcuts may still execute because some combinations never reach a webpage.
Press a key to start the event log.
Free Online Keyboard Tester
Use this keyboard checker when a key feels unresponsive, repeats unexpectedly, or you want to verify that your browser can detect a key combination. Press a key and its matching key on the visual keyboard lights up. Tested keys remain marked so you can work across the keyboard systematically.
What this keyboard test shows
The live panel reports the browser's key value, physical code, key location, Ctrl, Alt, Shift and Meta state, held keys, repeat events and a short event history. Releasing a key removes it from the active-input list.
Privacy and browser limitations
Keyboard detection for this tool runs in your browser. Shortcut capture is disabled by default so ordinary browser controls continue to work. Browsers and operating systems reserve some shortcuts, so combinations such as system security shortcuts may never reach a webpage.
Keyboard Tester FAQ
How do I test whether a keyboard key works?
Press the key once. If the browser detects it, the visual key highlights, the last-event panel updates, and the event appears in the recent history.
Can I test several keys at the same time?
Yes. Hold multiple keys and check the Active Inputs area. This is useful for gaming combinations and modifier-key checks.
Why can't a website detect every shortcut?
Some shortcuts are handled by the browser or operating system before a webpage receives them. That is expected browser security behavior and does not necessarily mean the keyboard is faulty.
